Thus a few thoughts from just finished Circular Electronics Trends Towards 2035 webinar.Despite the setbacks (the percentage of items circulated has in fact decreased over the year) the circular economy in electronics is advancing in these areas:✅ Double-digit growth for second-hand markets✅ Growing citizen movements (e.g. Rigth to Repair)✅ New actors fundamentally reengineering products (Framework, Fairphone, etc.)✅ People hold on longer to devices✅ Clearer goals and ambitions from countries✅ Geostrategic importance of material flowsIt's not only about recycling, it's a lot about how electronics is designed and used. The need for electronics is only going to grow.To see a fundamental change we must not only see improvements in the materials we use, but we also need a paradigm shift in the process to manufacture, and crucially, implement an industry ecosystem that delivers end-of-life reusability and environmentally safe disposal.
