I love taco dip. I make it all the time. For almost every picnic, people want me to bring my taco dip.

Taco Dip with Meat Recipe

It seems like we go to a lot of parties and picnics during the summer. It is almost every other weekend. One of the dishes that is always asked for me to bring is layered Taco dip. I make it at home quite often too. It is a dish that disappears fast. I always have to make 2 trays. Combining the flavors of tacos, this taco dip recipe takes tacos up a notch. A fantastic picnic recipe too, taco dip is eaten with chip, nacho chips, crackers, and I have even seen people use veggies like carrots and celery as a scooper. Or, you know, just with a spoon. However you eat it, just watch out for others coming along trying to steal it from you. I wish I was kidding.

Want to Make this a Taco Dip Recipe with No Meat

Serenity has always loves this recipe but since she became a vegetarian a year ago, she can no longer eat it. I have started making it for her one of 2 ways. Sometimes I make this a Taco Dip no meat version. I simply leave out the meat and add the taco seasoning to cream cheese and sour cream layer. Another option is to use meatless crumbles. We have been using these a lot for meals that are her favorite so that she can still have them. I just add the taco seasoning right to the crumbles.

Taco Dip with Meat

I make my taco dip with meat. I have seen a lot of taco dip recipes that do not include meat. Those recipes add in the taco flavor into the cream cheese and sour cream layer. Personally, I find it hard to think of taco dip if it doesn’t have the meat. It just seems like it is missing something. Personally, taco dip with meat is way better. If you choose to make taco dip with meat, follow the recipe below. If you choose to make it without meat, take out the ground beef and add the taco seasoning to the cream cheese.

Layered Taco dip comes together very easily with almost no prep work involved, with the exception of browning the hamburger meat and chopping up the lettuce. Everything else is opening the container and spreading it out.

How Many Weight Watchers Points in Taco Dip

If you are making this taco dip with ground beef the Weight Watchers Points are 3 points per serving. We count this as about 16 servings since it is an appetizer at our parties. You can also swap the ground beef for ground turkey breast. Believe me, I do this all the time, even when I take it to parties and no one notices the difference. If you use ground turkey breast it comes to 1 Weight Watchers Point. When I make this, I use fat free cream cheese and sour cream. I also use fat free cheddar cheese and fat-free beans. If you use a different version of these, the points will change. I also add about 2 cups of cheese over the pan. You can add more or less depending on your preferences.

UPDATE: With the new Weight Watchers Plans, the points above are for the Blue Plan. Here are the updated points:

  • With ground Beef: 3 points on all plans
  • With ground turkey breast: 1 point on Blue and Purple, 2 points on Green.
